The West Allis Auto Club (WAAC) is a not for profit organization of 125 members located in West Allis, WI. Founded in 1961, the WAAC was started as a community project to help give youth direction for their future. Over the last 50+ years, the WAAC has gone through many changes and challenges, but still exists as a community project. In recent years, WAAC members have donated many hours of time and thousands of dollars to the local community through: Food Drive donations, scholarships to high school students, the West Allis Christmas parade, the West Allis Downtown Car Show, Community Spring Clean-up, and the West Allis Police department K-9 unit. FROM TIME TO TIME MEMBERS OF BOTH CLUBS INQUIRED AS TO WHEN THE CLUBS BUILDINGS WERE STARTED 1. The Auto Club construction started March 23, 1967. That building is 50' X 82'. 2. The first addition started October 20, 1983. This included the addition for the Wood Shop and the Auto Club spray booth for a total of 82' X 43'. 3. The next addition was started June 26, 1996 for an additional area of 55' X 83'. I'm very proud of what has been accomplished by all members and I hope that we can be as successful for many, many more years. ARTHUR KASTNER April 8, 2009 |
